'Healing through Art' fundraising raffle
One of the Cornucopia 2022 Conference Highlights will be a raffle to fund at least one ‘Healing Through Art’ workshop for 12 women who have been the victim of domestic violence in SA.
Overview
The Eastwood Community Centre in association with the Zahra Foundation Australia and artist Simon Linehan are delighted to be able to include the ‘Healing Through Art’ Fundraising Raffle as one of the Cornucopia 2022 Conference highlights.
Participation in a safe, supportive art experience allows individuals to explore their emotions and to give physical creative expression to these feelings through images, colour and shapes. The artistic result is irrelevant. It is the process that has the power to heal, albeit in a very small way.
It is our goal to raise at least $400 to enable 12 South Australian women who access the fabulous counselling services offered by the Zahra Foundation Australia to enjoy such an art experience with Simone Linehan.
We hope that all conference delegates will purchase lots of raffle tickets (with cash) at the Conference so our goal can be achieved.
Donations needed
We are seeking as many donations for our raffle as possible. Donations could include: vouchers; paintings or other works of art; wine: plants; or abundance baskets full of lovely goodies. All contributions would be gratefully accepted.
If you would like to donate a raffle prize, please contact the Conference Manager, Jenny McCormick on 0411 777 835 or email jenny@eastwood.asn.au to arrange collection. Prizes can also be bought on the day of the Conference from 7.30am.
About Simone
Simone Linehan is an Australian artist born in 1973 living in Adelaide. In 1989 she started her career in graphic design and illustration, first working for local design studios then in 1996 she began her freelance career. Her client focus was on arts-based organisations such as the State Theatre Company, Adelaide Chamber Singers and the Australian String Quartet, just to name a few.
Her first solo painting exhibition was in 2007 and has had several smaller and group exhibitions since then, alongside raising two sons and running her business. The combination of graphic design, illustration, teaching and painting has given Simone a broad range of art experiences and knowledge.
In 2008, to further embrace her love of visual arts, she added a children’s art class business to the side of this successful design career. Four years later she opened her art studio for adults, now a thriving hub of activity in the Adelaide Hills specialising in mixed media and expressive art making.
In 2018, Simone gained her Art Therapy Diploma, as art was becoming a precious tool for wellbeing in her students. Around this time she began painting murals which can be seen in local businesses and schools.
Predominately a self taught painter, Simone expresses her passion for character, human and otherwise, in acrylic, watercolour, oils and mixed media. Her quirky characters capture real and imagined, being influenced, from a very young age, by the likes of Jim Hensen (the Muppets) and Maurice Sendak (Where The Wild Things Are). She sees the world from a place of colour, creativity and playfulness.
Currently exhibiting at the Fleurieu Arthouse, McLaren Vale, local restaurants and cafes, Simone enjoys a healthy mix of teaching and creating.
