About
Established in 1989, the Eastwood Community Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that is run for and by the local community.
Welcome to Eastwood
Since its establishment, the Eastwood Community Centre has grown and transformed itself in reponse to the changing needs of the communities it serves.
Our Centre promotes, initiates and supports community-orientated programs and services that provide an opportunity for community members of all ages and backgrounds to engage in lifelong learning activities, and which serve to strengthen community networks, resilience and wellbeing.
Currently our Centre runs over 65 individual programs and services each month that are accessed by over 1000 people. Activities are offered in the areas of: arts and crafts; health and fitness; music and dance; information technology; addiction recovery; employment preparation; entreprecurship; financial literacy; and cooking.
Our Centre features a beautiful back garden which provides a fantastic space for events and informal gatherings. Rooms can be hired for meetings, workshops and celebratory events e.g. weddings and birthday parties.
A very enthusiastic team of volunteers are involved in the running of our Centre. These roles include governance via our Centre’s Management Board, gardening and administrative duties.
Funding to run the operations of our Centre is very gratefully received from the Burnside City Council, the State and Commonwealth governments, local service clubs e.g. the Lions Club of Glenside and local businesses.
We welcome all newcomers to our Centre and look forward to working collaboratively with our partners to continue delivering dynamic, fun and engaging programs and services to our community for years to come.
